PayNow

CraftingStore takes no cut.
It also takes no liability.

CraftingStore is store software that runs on payment accounts you bring yourself, so the PayPal or Stripe account, the tax returns and the disputes all stay with you. Their own terms say as much, and we’d rather you knew that before comparing fees.

The short version

CraftingStore takes no percentage of your sales, just a monthly plan, and for a small server taking the odd donation that is genuinely cheaper than us. What it doesn’t include is anyone standing behind the payments: you connect your own PayPal, Stripe or Mollie, and tax, disputes and a frozen balance are between you and the gateway. That last one happens more than you’d think, because most processors aren’t keen on game-server goods.

Our fee, 3.5% down to 2.5% by plan plus the gateway fee, pays for the opposite arrangement: PayNow is the seller, the accounts and the liability are ours, and stores that make the move tend to see more checkouts go through.

In their words

Quoted from CraftingStore’s own help pages and terms of service.

  • We are never the middleman

    CraftingStore, on the model

  • It is your responsibility to contact the payment gateway directly in case of problems

    CraftingStore, on when it breaks

  • You shall remain solely responsible for complying with your legal duties and obligations

    CraftingStore, on the liability

Included with PayNow. Yours on CraftingStore.

Taking nothing from your sales also means taking on nothing when the payments side goes wrong.

  • The gateway accounts

You apply to PayPal, Stripe or Mollie, get approved, and keep the account in good standing.

  • When the gateway changes its mind

Most mainstream processors aren’t keen on digital goods for game servers. Accounts in this category get looked at more closely, and it’s not unusual for one to be closed at short notice with the balance held for months to cover possible chargebacks. When the account is in your name, that’s yours to deal with.

  • Tax registration and filing

EU OSS, UK VAT and US state nexus registrations, returns and deadlines are all yours.

  • Disputes and the ratio

The dispute fee, the evidence work per dispute, and a ratio that can end your own account.

  • Fraud screening

Whatever your gateway gives you, tuned by you, with the losses on your side.

  • Method coverage

You get what your connected gateways support, and adding local methods is your work.

  • Buyer support

Receipts, refunds and payment questions come to you, because you are the seller.

Where CraftingStore wins

If you run a small server and take the odd donation, the cheaper option is the right one.

No cut of your sales. Their revenue comes from a monthly plan, not a percentage. For a small server taking occasional donations, that is genuinely cheaper.

A generous free tier. Unlimited packages and servers on the free plan, with a custom domain.

Money lands in your own account. Payments go straight into your PayPal or Stripe. If direct settlement matters more than liability cover, that is the trade.
